Our love, our home, our club

Updated: Aug 16

The European Football Championship with the great fans from Scotland is history - we're back to everyday league life. "We are with you, FC Kölle" - This applies to the 1st and 2nd leagues, of course. We're already looking forward to the promotion party! At this point, a very special thank you to the FC, who sent us some particularly beautiful pictures for this article!

The FC's home games are something very special: When the FC anthem of the Höhner sounds, the teams run onto the pitch and the stands are a sea of red and white flags - pure goosebumps! But the Höhner stole a little from the anthem: The melody of the FC song comes from the Scottish folk song "Loch Lomond" and has thus stood for the footballing and musical friendship between Cologne and Scotland, even since the Scottish fans visited Cologne.

Conveniently to the stadium with the KVB

We recommend that you arrive early for FC Köln 's home games, ideally on line 1 or line 7. The train stops directly in front of the stadium at the "RheinEnergieSTADION" stop. The entrance ticket is also valid as a ticket for the KVB. There are also signposted parking spaces around the stadium, but there is always a lot going on around the stadium during home games.

And if you're travelling by train, you can not only eat a delicious curry or bratwurst in the stadium, but also drink a Kölsch or two. The FC has been serving traditional Gaffel-Kölsch for years. You might even get to know the Gaffel am Dom on one of our brewery tours!

Many fans start the FC day a little earlier and stop off at one of the pubs along Aachener Straße on the way to the stadium. And on the way back you can stop off at one of the old town pubs and celebrate the FC victory there. In many Cologne pubs like Kölner's, the FC games are also broadcast live and the atmosphere when Cologne wins is always great!

A look behind the scenes of the stadium

You can find out more about our FC and the RheinEnergieSTADION on a stadium tour . You will of course see the changing rooms and the coach's bench up close, but you will also learn one or two secrets about the FC. The tour lasts 75 to 90 minutes. The FC also offers some special tours, for example with our stadium announcer Michael Trippel himself. Or you can follow in the footsteps of Lukas Podolski on a tour.

You can see Poldi more often in Cologne, whether you're eating a kebab at Mangal-Döner or his ice cream at IceCream United . At Heumarkt, both shops are just a few meters away from each other on foot. And if you want to play football like Poldi, check out the Strassenkicker.base !

And then there is our Hennes , who we recently had the pleasure of meeting in person! Hennes IX took on this responsible role in 2019 and is of course present at every home game. The billy goat, who lives in Cologne Zoo, is definitely more than just a mascot and is simply part of the FC!

The FC was founded in 1948. For this reason, the FC car takes part in the Cologne Pride parade every year with the starting number 48. And the FC stars also take part in the big Rose Monday parade on their own car. The really big successes were a few years ago, but we are not giving up hope: the last championship was in 1978 and the last cup win was in 1983. So it can't be long now. ;-)

Cheering on the FC ladies

By the way, it doesn't always have to be the men's team: The FC women are also very successful and will also be in the 1st league in the 2024/25 season ! The FC girls usually play in the Franz Kremer Stadium, but are sometimes allowed to go to the large RheinEnergie Stadium. In 2023, over 38,000 fans attended the game against Eintracht Frankfurt! The atmosphere at the FC women's home games is always great and tickets are often available for under 20 euros. So come along and cheer on our women's team!

We can also particularly recommend the Geißbockheim , the FC clubhouse! Not only is there one of the FC fan shops here, but with a bit of luck you can also watch the pros training from the terrace. In the Geißbockheim you will also find a good range of restaurants.

The FC is as much a part of Cologne as the cathedral and the carnival! Get infected with our football fever and go to an FC game ! Maybe you'll be in Cologne for a weekend in the new season to cheer on the FC. Then combine your football weekend in Cologne with one of our brewery tours . If you're coming with your whole fan club, our private tours are perfect for you. It's best to book your tour now!
